What a lovely day we had for our latest SMILE walk, with 32 Smilers joining us for a wonderful autumn stroll!

Although our furry friends couldn’t join us this time because dogs aren’t allowed on the pier, that certainly didn’t stop us from having a fantastic day together!

We met up with the rest of the group at the entrance to Southend Pier, where we took a lovely group photo and, as we always do, gave our new Smilers a big, warm welcome. That’s what SMILE is all about making people feel welcome, included and part of something special.

We enjoyed a beautiful walk along the beach, with the warm autumn sunshine bringing smiles to everyone’s faces. We then made our way along the world’s longest pleasure pier, enjoying the fresh sea air, wonderful conversations and the water glistening in the sunshine.

At the end of the pier, we stopped for coffee, a good old natter and a bit of exploring before making our way back. Some of our Smilers even visited the pier museum, which was absolutely amazing!

A HUGE thank you to all 32 Smilers who came along and made the day so special. It’s always lovely to see familiar faces and welcome new people into our growing SMILE family.

"As well as being great fun, SMILE's activities enable everyone to come together and support each other. I know, I can pitch up on my own, and I will be welcomed with open arms."
